Turning Points

Turning Points: What Happened? (Reykjavik exercise)

by Mary Ellen Johnson

Excitement and reluctance glimmered ahead

New job, new city, new friends, new apartment waited

For the transformation and independence of the new life.

Was I ready, did I know? Nt a clue that

Life as I knew would usher in such deep studies and emotion.

The new world ahead was a promise fulfilled by an inner soul.

I laughed, I cried, I pursued spiritual and physical higher planes

As a lost love found a new love in my newly confident self.

Growing to your potential is difficult as new relationships

Beget new horizons, and the old self bursts out of its shell

Releasing new challenges and hardships as I say goodbye to

Unknown heights and lows and marvel at newfound avenues.
