She Did by Maria Boling

She Did

By Maria Boling

Mama sewed my wedding dress. She did. She surely did.
So starlight white and long it was with pearls around the waist.
Wore that gown only once I did. Just once I surely did.

I waited at the church I did. Everyone waited. We did. We surely did.
Bouquets wilted and punch grew warm it did. It surely did.

He didn’t show that special day. He did not show at all.
“Cold feet” he said. He surely said about our special day.
I cried and Mama cried then packed away that dress. I did.
Packed away for good.

Mama stopped her misery and planned revenge she did.
Used it loud she did. She did. Used it loud she did.
“Cold feet” he’d said. He’d surely said.
“Stone cold!” My Mama said.
Stone cold my Mama did. She did.
She did. She surely did.
